So You Want To Be A Basketball Official
GREAT!!!
This page will provide you with the directions and information you will need. There are registration and order forms included in PDF and Word format that can be downloaded, completed and emailed, faxed or delivered to the appropriate person(s). Check below for these forms or go to the MAIN menu and click on Forms. Other locations on our site provide valuable information about the rules and procedures of the game and are updated when any changes come through.
To get started you will need to complete a REGISTRATION FORM (click on title) and submit it to our Secretary, Gilles Crepeau, or our President, Charles Ketter (See Home page for info).
Next go to www.assignbyweb.com/sudbury and register as an official. You will receive an email when you are approved. All assignments will be distributed through that site. Once approved you go to that site and login to check for games and information. Your login will be the first letter of your first name attached at the start of your last name. The default password is Sudbury which you can change once into your own space. So Elmer Fudd will login in as efudd with the password Sudbury until the password is changed.
Once you are an approved user login and go to the AVAILABILITY Calendar and click off days and/or times you know you will not be able to officiate. This way assignors know who they can assign and who isn't available to officiate. Of course you will not be assigned until you have received some training. To access training check the CALENDAR for Meeting/Clinics. Also Check the other pages for valuable info on officiating.
Officiating is a very rewarding way to be part of the game. It will add to your income and provide you with a load of new and interesting friends. Experience and training can lead to involvement at the upper reaches of the game with all those rewards as well. Unfortunately the road can get a little bumpy but your knowledge of the rules and mechanics of the game will provide you with the confidence to carry on.
